surprise, i didn’t forget my password to log into this, nor did i decide to delete my account. i know you’re all disappointed. but, i’m back regardless. i was worried that anything and everything that i wanted to post wouldn’t fit with the things i already had and was (literally) worried about messing up any sort of “branding” that i had going on here (don’t worry i hate myself too). but, i don’t care anymore to be honest. this is for me and what i want to do so sometimes i’ll be talking in depth about why trump is the actual most terrifying thing to ever happen, but then sometimes i’m going to write about my cat or my new eyeshadow palette, and that’s what we’re doing today.
i am by no means an expert on makeup. i literally just spend half an hour each morning throwing expensive face paint onto my face and hope for the best, but that doesn’t mean i don’t know at lease SOMETHING. so today i’m giving you my top 10 (maybe) favorite products, both high end and drugstore.
(all prices came from ulta.com because that’s where i do 90% of my shopping)
1) Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation ($40)
i have the worst skin on the face of the planet. i constantly have some sort of breakout, red patches, dark under eye circles, the works. because of this, i need a foundation that covers all of that up without weighing 20 pounds on my face, and this foundation does exactly that. super lightweight but gives a massive amount of coverage. this is a newer find fro me, but i have been wearing it almost nonstop fro the past month or so and am obsessed and will for sure keep going back to it.
2) Revlon ColorStay foundation ($12.99)
this is my holy grail drugstore foundation and as much as i love trying out others, this one is what i always end up buying bottle after bottle of. it covers all of my spots and blemishes wonderfully without getting too cakey. this foundation obviously isn’t as magical as the Urban Decay, but for the price, this one sure has enough magic in it to make my dreams come true.
3) NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($29 at Sephora)
after hearing so many people go on and on about how much they loved this product, i had to try it just to finally see for myself if it was actually worth the hype or if it was just another silly overpriced concealer, and boy oh boy was it worth the hype. like i’ve said, i have an insane amount of spots and dark under eyes to cover, and this does that beautifully and without creasing. amazing. the only downside is that i “have” to go to Sephora to buy this guy since Ulta doesn’t carry NARS products, but if that’s the only “downside”, i’m game.
4) Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer ($6.99)
say goodbye to your dark circles because this is crazy good. it does exactly what it says it will and it does it well. obviously it’s not the best for spots, but it works and it clears those under eyes RIGHT UP.
5) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($20)
it’s a fan favorite for a reason. i never thought anyone would need a separate primer just for their eyes, but i was wrong. a thin little layer of this on each eye will keep anything and everything in place all day and will make your eyeshadow blend so beautifully. it’ll also last you FOREVER since you just need the tiniest bit each day.
6) Tartelette 2 in Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette ($45)
this is my most recent big purchase and holy cow was it worth every single penny. i’ve always been a big fan of my classic Naked 1 palette and of course the new cult favorite Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar palette, but this guy is stunning. the shadows have such a beautiful pigmentation to them and blend so well and leave you with stunning results.
7) Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($22)
i cry a lot. i cry when i laugh, i’m overly happy, i’m sad, when i see a tiny kitty, literally whenever. so obviously i need an eyeliner that’ll stay. this one wont budge after going on and will last through literally anything. obsessed 100%.
8) Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara ($21)
i always try to keep my eyelashes as basic as i can since they’re already naturally long and pretty thick, so i have to stay away from anything that could clump them up, and this one is the best that i’ve found recently. i have a lot of other ones that are stunning on other people, but my lashes are so hard to not clump and this is a thinner mascara that really keeps mine long but without clumping them all up.
9) Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Matte ($4.99)
this entire line is amazing, and my go to is #107. it’s a stunning berry-red that i think i heard people talking about a few years ago and had to try for myself and have been using and repurchasing ever since. it’s a perfect fall color (or all year tbh) and the formulation is amazing for something so cheap.
10) NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($5.99)
i’m a sucker for a matte lip, and the drugstore might not know how to do it all, but they do know how to do a good lip. NYX is one brand that proves just that. although the soft matte lip creams are my go to (i have 13 please stop me), the entire NYX lip collection is to die for. the liquid suedes ($6.99) are another that i keep reaching for. wonderfully pigmented, smooth application, and all day wear for only 6 or 7 bucks.
well that was long and if you made it this far, i’m impressed. if you for some reason enjoyed this, let me know, because i love this kind of stuff. i would love to dive deeper into drugstore or high end specifically, things i’ve hated, or even lips or eyes only because lord knows i have a lot of everything. who am i kidding, i’m going to write about it wether you want it or not. next time i promise i’ll make at least one person mad when i write about politics, but until then here’s a picture of just a chunk of my crazy collection.
